Text | Charles Bernard Kenna Kenna, Charles Bernard ALBANY Charles Bernard Kenna, 90, of Guilderland, died peacefully in his sleep on February 9, 2012, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 18, 1921, in Little Falls, the son of Harry and Dorothy (Nash) Kenna. After graduating from Herkimer High School in 1939, Charles enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country on Guadalcanal during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a major after the war. Chuck enjoyed the rest of life as a devoted husband and father in Herkimer, Colonie and Sebring, Fla., finally returning to end his days in Guilderland. He was a member of the Community Reformed Church of Colonie and the Lynwood Reformed Church, a life member of the Colonie Elks, and served as a town trustee in Herkimer. Celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on February 2, 2012, Chuck is survived by his wife, Catherine (Petrie); and his eight children, Michael (JoAnn) Kenna of Puyallup, Wash., Larry (Susan) Kenna of Beverly, Mass., Bruce (Toni) Kenna of Manchester, N.H., Deborah (B.J.) Todd of Guilderland, Cristine (Juan) LaPaix of Albany, Donald (Mary) Kenna of Clifton Park, Thomas Kenna of Guilderland and Jennifer Kenna of Guilderland. Chuck leaves behind 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by a memorial service at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
